Week 6 Feedback:
General:
A bit of a jumble: presented clearly but with a lot of rough edges here and there. There is undoubtedly a very, very fun game at the heart of this, but it remains to be seen just how well all 3 of you understand this! Good LD Guide breakdowns of the exploration of challenge that you've presented here would serve this project very well for continuing.
Bart:
Camera is a good distance, and has a noticeable guidance. Character feels slow and heavy in a way that emphasises the jetpack use.
Couldn't see any difference between easy/hard challenges, BUT the ones I saw are well laid out and organised and so methodical. Not only did I have fun, I immediately saw the breakdown of how you increase things over time.
I really hope to see that same logic explained in the LD guide for future level designers.
This is fantastic work. It's a shame to not see the platform surfaces/wall jump included as well.
Sebastiaan:
No way to escape the level, and the main character seemed to get stuck on landing occasionally.
Platforms work well, and the last moving platform (requiring a substantial jetpack boost) was a bit of a head-scratcher. It's a shame to not see more exploration of challenges - I really hope to see some very clear explanation of the challenge and how to exploit it in the LD guide.
Nothing to report on the character - has a feel similar to Bart's but the camera didn't seem to use the same dynamic guidance.
Jesse:
Didn't get very far into the level! Your wall-jump/boost puzzle is punishing, but it does show the way in which the two abilities combined make for some interesting platforming. I'm hoping to see you explain that in detail in the LD Guide.
Character feel very different to the others - lighter, faster and slippier. Could also work, but the faster movement doesn't emphasise the jetpack in the way that Bart and Sebastiaan do.
Oh - no Menu support for controllers. That's annoying.
