Patch 0.1.6 - Optimized Chaos
Cultists, we have a new mid-week update for you today. Given the state of the last build, we felt like we needed to push ourselves to provide you with something more stable, and with better performance. Over the weekend, we've worked on optimizing our game and squashing some bugs. While there isn't much in terms of new content, we did make some more improvements to our game's visuals. You can read the patch notes below for the full list of changes:
What's New:
- Nothing. Absolutely nothing in terms of playable content!
General Changes:
- Several under-the-hood improvements for optimizing the game. Performance across the whole game should be significantly better compared to all our previous builds.
- Lighting has been reworked in all levels. While there are still improvements to be made, overall lighting in the game is now more consistent.
- Levels have received another art pass and now have more variety in terms of props scattered about the levels.
- Gust of Wind has received some more minor tweaks. Charged-up and basic casts no longer have massive difference in terms of their scale and travel speed.
- Villagers now have some visual feedback to show that they've died.
- Are they dead or are they just blushing really, really hard?
- Several bug fixes.
Known Issues: Still present and to be addressed in future patches.
- HUD remains on-screen even when moving to the end-of-level statistics after playing through a level.
- The Dark Lord is simply accepting all sacrifices, even dead ones. The counters for villagers left, sacrifices made and end-of-level statistics can be a bit iffy as a result. We're currently looking into what might be causing this.
- The Dark Lord can be merciful and benevolent too, and he's sometimes not as picky about his food...
- The occlusion masking effect from the previous build that let you see your character when even behind buildings is no longer functional. This issue is due to some back-end changes and how we had the effect implemented. This should become functional again in a future patch.
- Villagers will occasionally get up after being knocked down in some way and change their character model.
- People are free to be whoever they want to be in our game. Don't call this a bug!
- Movement AI for villagers can get bugged, making them stand idly by. If this happens at a spawn point, it results in a chain effect where newly spawned villagers remain idle and grouped up at the spawn point.
