Patch 0.2.1 - Going Public


Cultists, we've finally reached the point where we release our game to everyone and make the page public. While some of you might have noticed we did in fact become public a couple of days ago, our plan was to do so alongside this patch. We've worked since last week's update on polishing some rough edges, fixing bugs and creating a more stable build for everyone to play. Don't expect much in terms of new playable content, but do expect improvements to just about every aspect of the game. Buckle in, 'cause there's plenty to go over for this update. Read on for the full patch notes:

What's New:

  • Level transitions.
    • Levels now end with a smoother effect rather than suddenly dropping you onto the stats screen.
  • New graphics options to help performance on low-end machines.
    • Switch between low, medium, high and epic graphics presets to get a better balance between visual fidelity and performance based on your system specs. You can also toggle V-Sync on if you're experiencing any screen tearing.
  • Support for 4 new languages has been added.
    • In addition to English, you can now the play the game in Dutch, French, Spanish and Japanese! Do note that while our Japanese localization is fully playable, it is still a work-in-progress. Please report any inaccuracies or mistakes to us to help improve our translations.
  • All levels are now much better dressed, with additional props, detailed lighting and more foliage.
  • Several new scream sound effects to add more variety when tossing people into the pit.

General Changes:

  • More tweaks to Gust of Wind's force. 
    • Expect a stronger push for the uncharged version of it. The distance fall-off on the force has also been adjusted and villagers hit by the end of the ability are now pushed away slightly instead of simply ragdolling and falling over at their current location.
  • Game AI has been fixed and no longer stands idly by.
    • No more philosopher villagers pondering the meaning of life right outside their houses as the world around them crumbles.
  • Fixed a number of issues with villager counters in the HUD.
  • Fixed a bug where dead people were being counted towards successful sacrifices.
    • The Dark Lord no longer accepts crispy, burnt meat.
  • All level parameters were rebalanced in light of the dead people being counted bug having been fixed.
  • Outpost level was redone to have a smaller, tighter design.
  • Several minor back-end bug fixes.
    • Trust us, you don't really wanna hear about the ways we messed up only to then write a post about how we fixed all of it.

Known Issues: All known isses from previous builds have been resolved. If you encounter any bugs, please share them with us so we can promptly fix them.
